The evolution of windows

Doors and windows are like the eyes of architecture. Through them, we can perceive the changes of the external world. Growing up in our times, the inherent image of windows and doors is glass window. In fact, the history of glass as the material of doors and windows is less than 200 years. In the new era, the development of science and technology has also given birth to more functions of doors and windows, such as heat preservation, heat insulation, sound insulation, anti-theft, etc.

In the past thousands of years of historical civilization, our buildings have different door and window styles.

1. Rudiments of doors and windows

In the early days, people left a gap on one side of the roof of the living space for the convenience of access, ventilation and lighting, which had the dual functions of door and window. 

2. The wooden window stage in early modern times

In the early stage, doors and windows were made of solid wood, and paper was pasted on the windows to prevent wind and light. Later, the doors and windows are made of solid wood, and the glass is directly inlaid in the wooden frame, which can play the role of lighting, shielding wind and rain. 

3. Modern doors and windows

With the rapid development of building energy saving in China, the energy-saving requirements of external doors and windows are increasingly strict. Nowadays, there are some new energy-saving doors and windows, such as high-performance plastic steel windows, high-performance aluminum system doors and windows, etc. 

In the future, whether it is the new high standard energy-saving buildings or the existing buildings that must be energy-saving transformation, good energy-saving doors and windows products will be widely used.
